PROCESS
  1. Engage the poem over and over and over again.  Read/Watch/Listen.
  2. Annotate!  Identify people and terms.  Paraphrase sections.  Infer ideas.  Make connections. 
  3. [Consider as you annotate: What is the poet saying?  What is the poet doing?]
  4. Write the central idea of the piece: What message/argument is the poet trying to get across?
